Blog Hop 2010

by Jacqueline Whitmore

Welcome Blog Hoppers!  Today I am participating in Blog Hop ’10!

A little bit about me…

My name is Jacqueline Whitmore and I am an Etiquette Passionista!  In other words, I’ve managed to turn my passion into a profession and I’m devoted to teaching others how to be more polished and polite in business and social settings.  Please don’t ask me to teach your children manners (no offense, but that’s YOUR job).  I focus on teaching executives and college students.  I am the author of Business Class: Etiquette Essentials for Success at Work and the founder of The Protocol School of Palm Beach, Florida.

Before I entered the fascinating world of etiquette, I worked in the hospitality industry for more than 12 years.  I have been a public relations executive with The Breakers Resort, a special events coordinator with The Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, a flight attendant with Northwest Airlines, and a singer and dancer at Sea World of Florida.  Yes, I’ve had a colorful and wonderful career!

I love to cook and entertain and will sometimes share my favorite recipes on my blog.  I love to Zumba dance and I really LOVE my dogs!  I have a Yellow Labrador and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  On a more personal note, I’m a nine-year cervical cancer survivor!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I invite you to “hop” around and read some of my popular posts!

Dropped in from the hop! What a great site you have. I often feel like there is no one left with any manners these days. I would love to meet your little spaniel. I have been thinking about getting one. Nice to “meet” you.

It sounds like you’ve had a *very* interesting life! What fun! My mother is also a survivor of cervical cancer, so congratulations on your 9 years!

I am a friend of Karen Hickman in Fort Wayne, IN., who gave me your name. Please check my entry, furnished by my publisher, Clarkson Potter. I wish to join a speaker’s bureau and am aware there are very good ones available, but I have no personal knowledge about any of them. With my public television exposure, I have done much public speaking ,of course. And I enjoy it enormously. Am just completing my first novel, DON’T ENVY ME, a story of a battered woman and how she survived.a toxic marriage. One out of every 4 women will be battered sometime during her life, enduring verbal battering . which as devastating as physical battering. Or both. I am a surviving battered wife, and write and speak from experience, alas. I rather think in the publishing world, and I have published 5 prize-winning cookbooks, men who have authority do not want such a book published. Sigh. However, I am aware that the publishing houses are laying off people galore, and it is not an ideal time to publish. My reputation is built on cookbooks and public televsion, where I had my own cooking show for 15 years. So you see I am making a big change in my job description. I do not wish to go to a university press; they simply do not pay nor promote well. I am capable of providing great promotion, but having a published book on the subject woule give me more credability and clout However, I am willing to lecture first and then publish, if that is necessary. Karen thought you would have some ideas on this, and I would so very much appreciate your advice on speaker’s bureaus, and of course, anything else. . . Cordially, marcia adams Note: I can appreciate how busy you are and will be so grateful if you are able to respond.

I just saw your blog and think you are amazing! Mw name is Maria, I am bulgarian journalist with a quite nice career who just starts to run her own studio for etiquette and protocol in Bulgaria. I was an Editor-In-Chief of ELLE bulgaria, then I create a magazine for business women and now I am on my new start. Awesome post. Do you mind if I ask what your source is for this information?
