As a writer, I am always in search of that perfect spot in which to write. It’s got to be a special space that will provide creativity and inspiration. I was intrigued to learn that there are countless blogs and websites that feature photos of writers’ workspaces, and I love looking at them. There have even been entire books full of photos of writers’ desks.
But after looking at all these photos, I believe that I have the perfect office/writing studio. Best of all, I don’t have very far to commute to work as my office is just a few steps away from my back door.
Come on in and I’ll give you a tour.
This is my desk. This is where all the magic happens and where I solve all the world’s etiquette challenges. My desk is messier than usual right now because I am working on my second book. Notice the dual monitors. If you haven’t invested in one, I highly recommend that you purchase an extra monitor. I am so much more productive as I can literally do two things at once!
During the winter and spring, I like to unplug my laptop and take it out on my balcony and write. This is also where I have lunch on many occasions.
As you can see, my husband Brian is extremely artistic and has a flair for landscaping. He has transformed our backyard into a peaceful oasis. Sometimes I take my laptop downstairs, grab a glass of iced tea, and work by my swimming pool and beautiful water fountain. The lush landscaping and the sound of the cascading water inspires me! This is also a perfect place to do photo shoots and media interviews. Ah…paradise!
The porch swing is another relaxing place to write, read, or make phone calls.
This is Oliver, my adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He loves going to work with me! He also loves chasing lizards and posing for pictures!
Here’s a view of my entire office building. This is a beautiful place to write, to dream, and to play. I’m blessed to have such a lovely place to go to work each day!
So tell me about your office space and what you love about it.
